Board Options
We have two options for you to get involved and become a board member. Our two organizations CyberWyoming and CyberWyoming Alliance are run by different boards to accomplish their individual missions. We want you to be passionate about your place with us, so read on to see which mission most interests you.
Board of Directors
Mission:
CyberWyoming promotes the cybersecurity welfare and prosperity of the micro-business community. Our vision is to help micro-business communities become the most secure demographic in the nation through CyberWyoming’s right-sized programs and collaborations. We Inspire Transformation in cybersecurity behaviors.
The CyberWyoming Board of Directors partners with a small staff to work towards the vision of making Wyoming the most cyber-secure state in the nation. We’re focused on businesses and want the board to include different industries and perspectives. We’re also interested in hearing from anyone who uses the internet in some way to transact business-related commerce. We want to build a community. Whether you’ve been hacked or not, we want to ensure cyber-crimes don’t happen to anyone.
Programs
- Cybersecurity Competition for Small Businesses
- Cybersecurity Business Counselor Training and registered apprenticeship through the Made Safe Program
- Technology Apprenticeship (Network Architect, Cybersecurity Support Technician and IT Specialist)
Meeting Schedule
- When: Every other month, 3rd Wednesday of the month
- Time: 8 a.m. Mountain
- Meeting: Virtual Online
BOARD MEMBER GENERAL EXPECTATIONS
- Serve a term (currently 2 year), with option to renew.
- Attend a ZOOM BOD meeting every two months on the third Wednesday, currently at 8:00 a.m. Mountain Time.
- Recruitment of judges for the Cybersecurity Competition for Small Businesses.
- Help with fundraising/building relationships with stakeholders.
- Time and/or financial donation to the organization.
- Attend BOD events (typically a face-to-face meeting during the annual statewide conference); lodging and travel are personal expenses.
- Develop relationships with citizens, sole proprietorships, small and large businesses to spread the word about CyberWyoming.
- Proficiency or (potential proficiency) using ZOOM and Google Drive/Docs.

Mission:
The CyberWyoming Alliance promotes alliances in local communities to share cybersecurity threat information and advocate for the cybersecurity societal benefit and welfare of Wyoming citizens, senior citizens, students and the business and nonprofit communities that surround them.
The specific objectives and purpose are: Applying for grant opportunities to fund cybersecurity education, awareness and outreach programs; Collaborating with local community organizations to tailor outreach programs to specific target markets; Creating a network for cybersecurity information sharing in local communities and disseminating threat and new program information to those communities.

BOARD MEMBER GENERAL EXPECTATIONS
- The CyberWyoming Alliance Board of Directors represents and guides the interests of the programs and stakeholders in the mission.
- Conference – the Board sets the theme of each year’s conference and helps recruit speakers.
- Hacker’s Brief – the Board promotes the weekly publication to ensure statewide alerts occur.
- Education Programs – the Board supports and encourages the programs through their communications network.
- Senior Alert Flyers – the Board supports and encourages the distribution of the alert information.
- Serve a term (currently 2 year), with option to renew.
- Attend a ZOOM BOD meeting every quarter.
- Help with fundraising/building relationships with stakeholders, including the annual WyoGives fundraising campaign.
- Time and/or financial donation to the organization.

Made Safe in Wyoming d.b.a CyberWyoming helps Wyoming businesses distinguish themselves to their customers as Made Safe Businesses by reducing their risk of cyber attack via the creation of partnerships.
The CyberWyoming Board of Directors is a working board that partners with a small staff to complete tasks to achieve goals to make Wyoming the most cyber-secure state in the nation. We’re focused on businesses and want the board to include different industries and perspectives. We’re also interested in hearing from anyone who uses the internet in some way to transact business-related commerce. We want to build a community. Whether you’ve been hacked or not, we want to ensure cyber-crimes don’t happen to anyone.

- Time: 4 p.m. Mountain

BOARD MEMBER GENERAL EXPECTATIONS
- Complete a four-month trial period; this is time for both the applicant and the board to evaluate if this is a good fit.
- Serve a term (currently 2 year), with option to renew.
- Attend a ZOOM BOD meeting every two months on the second Thursday, currently at 4:00 p.m. Mountain Time.
- Recruitment of judges for Wyoming’s Cybersecurity Competition for Small Businesses.
- Help with fundraising/building relationships with stakeholders.
- Time and/or financial donation to the organization.
